Merge PDFs

The interactive tool loads here. JavaScript is required to use its controls; the instructions below are available without it.

Combine two PDF files into a single document in your browser. Put the files in the order you want, then adjust the combined page order in the preview. No account or conversion-server upload is required for merging.

How to merge two PDFs

  1. Choose two PDF files. This version keeps at most two files in the merge queue.
  2. Use Move up or Move down beside each filename to set the document order. Pages initially follow that order.
  3. Wait for the merged preview. Use its page controls if you need to adjust individual page positions, and check the result.
  4. Select Merge & download. Open the new PDF to confirm the page count, order and readable content before sharing it.

Document order and page order

For example, combine a one-page cover letter with a three-page attachment. Put the cover letter first to get four pages in that order. Reordering a page in the merged preview changes its position in the downloaded result.

This tool combines existing PDF pages. It does not add a table of contents or new page numbering. If you need only a few pages from one source, use Split PDF on that source before merging it.

Forms, bookmarks and signed documents

The merge copies pages into a new document. Document-level features such as form behavior and bookmarks may not transfer correctly; check them if they matter. Do not assume that a form that looks filled in remains interactive.

The combined PDF does not preserve the originals as independently verifiable digitally signed documents. Keep signed originals separately. A merged copy can be useful for reading, but should not replace them when signature verification is required.

Privacy and practical limits

Files are processed in this browser, without uploading their content to the conversion API. Two very large PDFs can still exceed device memory, particularly on a phone. Close unnecessary tabs or work with shorter documents if the merge fails.

The password fields can help show thumbnails of protected PDFs. Export requires unencrypted source files. Save an unlocked copy in a trusted editor if you are authorized; the separate Remove Security tool uses the server and has its own processing notice.

Frequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

Exactly two source PDFs are required for the download action. The queue keeps at most two to limit browser memory use.

Can I change the combined page order?

Yes. First arrange the source files, then use the merged-preview page controls to change individual page positions before downloading.

Does merging compress the files too?

There is no compression target in this tool. The output size depends on the source pages. If needed, try Compress PDF on the merged copy and compare its quality.

Why can I preview an encrypted file but not merge it?

The preview can use a password, while the merge exporter requires unencrypted inputs. Viewing a protected file does not remove its encryption.
