Video Inspector

The interactive tool loads here. JavaScript is required to use its controls; the instructions below are available without it.

Inspect a video file locally for duration, dimensions, file size and estimated bitrate. This page helps identify a file before choosing a separate encoding workflow. It does not transcode videos or download a new MP4 or WebM.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose Analyze and select or drop a video.
  2. Review the metadata after the browser loads the file.
  3. Use Copy result for the summary, or open Formats and Guide for format information.

How to interpret the result

A container such as MP4 can hold different codecs. Browser support for the container alone does not guarantee playback. Bitrate is estimated from total bytes and duration, including audio and container overhead, so it is not a precise video-stream measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Does selecting a video upload it?

The inspector uses a local object URL in your browser. The selected video is not submitted to the conversion backend by this tool.
