Inspect certificate details returned by a public hostname over TLS. The hosted service performs this check because a browser cannot directly inspect an arbitrary remote TLS certificate.
How to use this tool
- Enter a public hostname without a path.
- Select Check and allow time for the service to respond.
- Review validity dates, issuer, subject and the authorization result.
How to interpret the result
The server validates the destination and blocks private or local addresses. Results are a point-in-time view from that server, not a complete security audit. A valid certificate does not prove that a website or its content is trustworthy.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a local hostname rejected?
The public checker is restricted to public destinations. It does not provide access to your computer, private network or internal certificates.
