Show the output of the Devine height-based weight formula. Despite the conventional name, it does not establish a personally ideal weight or a weight-loss target.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose the formula sex option.
  2. Enter height in metric or imperial units.
  3. Read the calculated kilograms and pounds as a formula estimate only.

How to interpret the result

The implementation uses a base of 50 kg for the male option or 45.5 kg for the female option, plus 2.3 kg per inch above five feet. It also extrapolates below five feet. Age, muscle mass, health conditions and individual goals are not included.

Frequently asked questions

Should I try to reach this exact number?

No. A height-only formula cannot set an individual health target. Discuss meaningful weight goals with a qualified health professional.
