Convert a Unix timestamp to UTC and local time, or turn a date/time into a timestamp. Explicit seconds and milliseconds controls help avoid the common thousand-fold unit mismatch.
How to use this tool
- Select seconds or milliseconds before entering an epoch value.
- Use Timestamp to Date to read UTC and local output.
- For the reverse direction, enter an unambiguous date/time with a time-zone offset and select Date to Timestamp.
How to interpret the result
Unix timestamps measure elapsed time from the UTC epoch. Date strings without an explicit zone can be interpreted according to browser rules. Use an ISO date/time with Z or an offset when exchanging values between systems.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the date far away from the one I expected?
Check whether a millisecond value was interpreted as seconds, or the reverse. Also check the time zone and any rounding to whole seconds.
