Remove Duplicate Lines

The interactive tool loads here. JavaScript is required to use its controls; the instructions below are available without it.

Clean a line-based list by keeping the first occurrence of each distinct line. This is useful for repeated labels or simple exports where each item occupies one line. It does not parse quoted CSV records.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste one item per line.
  2. Choose whether to trim surrounding whitespace and ignore letter case.
  3. Review the output line count and copy the cleaned list.

How to interpret the result

Trim lines changes the retained text as well as the comparison. Ignore case treats Apple and apple as the same entry, preserving the first matching line. Blank lines can also be deduplicated, and the surviving lines keep their original order.

Frequently asked questions

Does it sort the list?

No. It keeps first-occurrence order. Use Sort Text separately if you also want alphabetical or length ordering.
